Well, in some ways, that’s sort of how it was when Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus took the stage together at the Teen Choice Awards — just minus the liplock. Cyrus presented Spears with the Ultimate Choice Award at the show and before the two pop princesses hit the stage, she spoke to MTV News about how excited she was to finally be sharing the stage with her idol. “I’m doing something special with her tonight,” Cyrus told MTV News on the red carpet. Cyrus further explained that in addition to pairing up for the awards show, the girls have known each other and have been friendly for quite a while. “She’s a good friend of the family,” Cyrus, who also performed her new single, “Party in the USA,” said. “So I’m just happy to finally be able to really show everyone that she’s back and she never went anywhere.” In addition to both Miley and Britney finding success at a young age, Miley was quick to point out that the two, who are about 11 years apart in age, also share a common ground in terms of their upbringing. “I love how successful her music is doing right now and [I am] just proud of her,” she said. “You know, another Southern girl … I love that.” Related Videos Stars Converge On Teen Choice Awards 2009 Related Photos RPattz, Britney And More At The Teen Choice Awards Related Artists Miley Cyrus Britney Spears
