December 2008 proved to be very exciting for Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus. After receiving her learning permit early in the month, the actress and singer soon learned that her song I Thought I Lost You had been nominated for a Golden Globe award. The song, recorded as a duet with John Travolta, appeared in the movie Bolt.
Learning about the nomination, Miley told People.com that she never expected to be up against stars like Beyoncé and Bruce Springsteen. The television star received a string of congratulatory text messages and was treated to flowers by Hannah Montana producers. Surprisingly, Miley told the press that she would like to attend the gala with either John Travolta or the song’s writer, Jeffrey Steele, much to the dismay of Justin Gaston fans. Even though Justin was considered a likely escort, Miley deserves to be commended for wanting to share the opportunity with those involved.
As the date approached, Miley ultimately chose to take her parents to the red carpet event. The Golden Globes took place January 11 in Beverly Hills and Miley looked as stunning as ever. Wearing an off-white strapless Marchesa dress, Miley embraced the honor with grace and maturity. Despite the fact that the teen star was later criticized for sticking out her tongue at a camera, Miley is since being considered the next victim in Hollywood’s quest for a new `bad girl`. Even though the media continues to compare her to older, more mature actresses, they seem to keep forgetting that the Disney sensation is only in her mid-teens.
Although Miley lost out to Bruce Springsteen, it appears as though she will always treasure the nomination. Miley told the media that receiving such an honor at her age was very exciting and admitted that she was shocked when the song was announced as a contender. Other tracks appearing in the Best Original Song – Motion Picture category were Peter Gabriel’s Down to Earth (Wall-E), the Clint Eastwood-inspired Gran Torino, and Beyoncé`s Once in a Lifetime (Cadillac Records).
We’re sure the star will experience no shortage of future nominations and wins, with a booming television show, an upcoming movie, and a music career that just won’t quit.
Miley’s Twitter Account Hacked

In a celebrity world filled with privacy invasion, Miley Cyrus is the latest victim in a string of Twitter attacks. On the heels of shattered accounts belonging to 30 other high-profile individuals that included Britney Spears, an unidentified individual hacked into Miley`s account and sent various messages that appeared to be coming from the star herself. The statements contained mistakes and foul language, and suggested that Miley hated children and was only in it for the money. Fortunately for Miley, the perpetrator was not intelligent enough to look up the proper spelling of Hannah Montana.
A Twitter consultant has since confirmed that although the company is taking every measure possible to keep up with security issues, it is almost impossible to stay ahead of cybercriminals. He encouraged other Twitter users to choose difficult passwords that no one else could easily guess, and to never share passwords with others. Twitter, often referred to as a mix of Facebook and text messaging, is no less safe than other applications, but users have to take some responsibility for keeping their account safe and avoid any e-mails that may be scams disguised as messages from Twitter.
Of course, even thought the current President of the United States fell victim to a Twitter hack, Miley was singled out as the target of incessant criticism. While the Hannah Montana actress is simply attempting to juggle stardom and ordinary life, she is frequently harassed by the media for her actions. Somehow, the press has yet to realize that hackers are constantly finding new ways to break into accounts and celebrities are just as vulnerable as everyone else.
While an official response has yet to be issued by Miley or any of her representatives, fans are hoping the media will take this one in stride. Holding an individual responsible for circumstances beyond their control is unfair and unjust. Some sources suggest that Miley has been exposed to more scrutiny than other victims because of last year’s hacked e-mail account ordeal, but fans are outraged at the thought. As with many of Miley`s innocent actions, it would be an entirely different story if a regular 16-year old was at the heart of the incident.
Miley Isn’t Leaving Hannah Montana Just Yet

Despite the fact that Miley Cyrus suggested it might be time for her to abandon her Hannah Montana alter ego, there doesn’t appear to be a firm end in sight. In a July 2008 interview, Miley told E!News that the current season may be the last for the budding actress and singer. However, Disney has yet to confirm the future of the show.
Miley first took on the role of Hannah Montana at age 11. Now, at 16, she feels as though exploring other options may be a good idea. Miley further explained that while most shows may issue about 16 episodes per season, Hannah Montana produced 30, almost double that of a regular series. In response, a Disney representative declared that the future of the show remained open at that point.
Not surprisingly, rumors soon started flying that the role of Hannah would be taken over by Miley`s youngest sister, Noah. According to reports, dad Billy Ray had been preparing the then-nine-year old for the challenge, but Miley has since dismissed those claims. While Miley did confirm that Noah would love to assume the role, it is definitely not the plan. Speculation had even gone so far as to suggest that an audition had already taken place between Noah and Disney executives.
In response to her thoughts about leaving the show, Miley told fans that she feels like she`s been working on the show much longer than in reality. Sources have also noted that leaving Hannah Montana would give Miley an opportunity to take on more mature roles and shed the `little girl` image for which she is known. As they say, all good things must come to an end. Now, it’s a matter of wait-and-see, as Hannah Montana fans hang on the edges of their seats in the hopes of good news for season four.
With production normally beginning in late summer, Miley would likely need to confirm her plans for the 2009 start within the next few months. While Disney may hold the right to find a new actress to fill the shoes of Hannah Montana – should Miley move on to bigger and better things – the company would be forced to invest a huge leap of faith in the superstar’s fans.
Who Is “7 Things” Really About?

Yes, it seems as though the drama surrounding Miley Cyrus` hit song 7 Things is finally coming to a close. Miley was attacked by Jonas Brothers fans, after releasing a song that seemed to sing out to former boyfriend Nick Jonas. After dating for quite some time, the relationship between the two dissolved, sparking critics to suggest that the song was connected to the split.
During a magazine interview, Miley confirmed that the song is about an ex-boyfriend, but quickly added that she doesn’t hate Nick. Miley went on to state that the song is about whatever the fans want and she really doesn’t mind if people link the song to the youngest Jonas brother. Miley always seems to be in the hot seat, forced to defend every move she makes. In this case, she calls the song `fun` and her fans agree.
A second interview with Nick Jonas also suggested that he is not the target of any ill feelings. Nick noted that his traits are not a match to those identified in the chorus of 7 Things, joking that he is not insecure and his friends are not jerks. With both Miley and Nick taking the criticism so lightly, it only makes sense that the media be given no choice but to back off and start searching for a new victim.
The song caused a variety of rumors to surface and not long after, a full-blown feud was reported. Sources stated that huge fights had exploded between Miley and the Jonas Brothers during their joint tour, and that the Jonas Brothers resented the Hannah Montana star’s fame. Fortunately, Miley has since informed fans that what little existed of a feud in the first place is now yesterday’s news.
Either way, fans hold true to the fact that even if 7 Things is about Nick Jonas, Miley has the right to sing about whoever or whatever she wants. A countless number of songs have been released by artists that are based directly and indirectly on a writer or performer’s personal experiences, yet very few are questioned. Hopefully, if nothing else, the debate between Miley and Jonas Brothers fans can now be put to rest as well.
Asians Lash Out At Miley

It appears as though an innocent photo has forced Miley Cyrus into the spotlight yet again. In a photo that quickly spread through the depths of the Internet earlier this year, Miley and a group of friends attempted to make themselves “look” Asian by squinting their eyes. Miley, who can be seen stretching her eyelids to the side, insists that this was nothing more than a fun, innocent photo.
Apparently, no one in Hollywood can take a friendly picture without being attacked. The media does not seem to care that an Asian, who doesn’t appear to be bothered in the least by the fun, sits prominently in the photo. The Organization of Chinese American (OCA) did not take the incident lightly, either, calling it offensive and accusing Miley of setting a bad example for fans.
Fans have taken a firm stand in Miley’s defense, suggesting that if this photo featured a group of non-celebrities, the humor would be taken in stride. The press is simply adding to the drama by implying that the actress would intentionally try to hurt the feelings of an entire race. Miley has since delivered two public apologies, both of which have been dismissed by the opposition as not being “heartfelt”.
Fellow Hannah Montana co-star Alison Brie even stepped up to defend the superstar, stating that the media gives celebrity youth too much of a hard time. Alison went on to note that many ordinary teenagers would be caught in worse positions if their actions were constantly under watch; we’re sure a hefty number of teens would agree.
It doesn’t look like the dust is going to settle very soon, thanks to a lawsuit recently filed against the Hannah Montana leading lady by a California woman. Lucie J. Kim has started a battle worth four billion, representing the Asian-Pacifics of Los Angeles. Even though the matter is heading to court, Miley has done nothing wrong. She was simply the victim of an overexploitation led by the media in an attempt to bring even more negativity to the television star’s crowded life. Thankfully, fans will continue to support Miley in her quest to crush any suggestions that she is racist.
Vanity Fair Photo Controversy

Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus has certainly seen her share of disapproval from the media. Fortunately, many of Miley`s actions would be considered normal outside of Hollywood and fans have stepped up to back the superstar in her quest to maintain a positive image. The celebrity world is constantly afloat with rumors and gossip, often wreaking havoc on personal and working relationships.
Perhaps the most famous of Miley’s scandals emerged last April, when allegedly provocative pictures of the star appeared in Vanity Fair magazine. Despite the fact that Miley issued a public apology for the way the photos were interpreted, it appears as though – once again – the star has done nothing wrong. With world-renowned photographer Anne Leibovitz at the reins, the magazine spread featured images of Miley exposing her bare back. Yes, just her back.
The media attacked the photos overnight, angry parents surfaced, and Disney executives came forward to announce that Miley was simply the victim of a feature concocted by the magazine to sell issues. While the photos may appear to be something else, photo shoot attendees insist that the event was innocent. Miley’s parents even attended the affair and consented to the series of photos, believing the shoot would result in a fresh, natural look.
What onlookers fail to realize is that the set and instructions provided to Miley were at the disposal of the Vanity Fair staff, under the direction of the photographer. As defensive fans can appreciate, Miley was not responsible for the concept behind the photos and has indicated she is ‘embarrassed’ by the impression that remains. Miley is under constant scrutiny from the media and is often chastised for what the media considers `bad` decisions. However, it is clear that a ongoing hunger for scandal keeps reporters at the core of such judgment calls, causing parents to second-guess the teen`s ability to act as a role model for younger girls.
As Miley`s fans know, she takes pride in setting an example and would never intentionally set out to hurt her supporters. By adhering to the instructions given to her during the shoot, Miley is yet again under attack for a harmless episode that was merely overemphasized by the press.
