Miley Cyrus May Release ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn,’ Bret Michaels Says

Poison frontman says he expects the teen star’s cover version to be issued as a single later this year. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus Photo: Getty Images Last year, Miley Cyrus declared that she Can’t Be Tamed . The album features a cover of the Poison classic “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” that the teen star recorded with the glam-metal band’s frontman, Bret Michaels, himself. And now, according to Michaels, the track likely will be released later in 2011 as a single … finally. The Poison singer told to E! News that Cyrus’ label initially had intended to issue her version of the song as a single much sooner, but those plans were sidetracked thanks to a bit of tabloid drama involving Michaels. “The record label was supposed have to this huge humongous release of ‘Every Rose,’ ” the rocker explained. “It was going to be Miley’s next-step song, but because of that, they stepped back. It really bummed me out. I worked hard on that.” The “that” he’s referring to is his rumored affair with Miley’s mom, Tish, which allegedly may have contributed to the short separation of Cyrus’ parents. Now, with that relationship back on track, so apparently are plans to release the song, which seems to really please the Poison frontman. “I think this is the song that will cross her over,” Michaels said. “If it happens, it’s going to be a big hit.” A rep at Miley’s record label had not responded to MTV News request for comment about plans for the song’s released as a single at press time. Last year, MTV News spoke to Michaels about working on “Every Rose” with Miley, and he really sang the teen star’s praises in the music-cred department. “She’s one of the few musicians — and I want to use that word, ’cause she can actually play and sing — she’s one of the few people who can pull it off and give it her own flare and make it sound good,” Michaels offered. “I gotta tell you something — she nailed the song. She really knew what she was doing. She got in there and picked the guitar up … It was one of those nights that just worked. It was fun … It’s gotta be her taking ‘Every Rose’ and making it all hers.” What do you think about Miley’s cover of “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” being released as a single? Tell us in the comments. Billy Ray Cyrus announces on ‘The View’ that he and Tish have decided to work things out. By Jocelyn Vena Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images After announcing their split last year Billy Ray Cyrus now says that he and his wife of 17 years, Tish, have decided to reconcile. “I dropped the divorce,” Miley Cyrus’ dad told the hosts of “The View” during a pre-taped appearance on the show airing Friday, according to USA Today. “I wanted to put my family back together.” Cyrus, who appeared on the show to promote his new album, I’m an American, out in June, said he and his family are working out their problems. “Communication I think is one of the biggest problems that we as human beings have in this whole world,” he said. “And I think for the first time me and my entire family are finally communicating with each other in a way that, it’s been quite some time … and to answer your question, things are really the best they’ve ever been.” Cyrus also seemed to retract the statements he made in a GQ interview, in which he said that his and Miley’s hit Disney series “Hannah Montana” “destroyed” their family . “I feel like I kind of got my Miley back in a way,” he said. “I feel like we are the daddy and the daughter that we were before ‘Hannah Montana’ happened. I love ‘Hannah Montana.’ I love Disney. That didn’t tear my family apart.” The country singer did, however, say that fame had something to do with the family’s troubles. “Now fame, fame is a different animal, you’ve got to be careful with that thing because it can … all things considered, hey, it’s all good.” Related Photos The Evolution Of: Miley Cyrus Related Artists Miley Cyrus Billy Ray Cyrus

Miley Cyrus Snapped Stumbling Because Of Paparazzi Lights

‘Party in the U.S.A.’ star was blinded by flashes after meeting with producer Dr. Luke, sources tell MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus (file) Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage When photos of Miley Cyrus outside of Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont hit the Internet on Tuesday (March 15), gossip blogs claimed the star was stumbling around the L.A.-area hotspot after a night of partying. But sources close to Cyrus tell MTV News the rumors are all wrong. Miley was in a meeting with producer Dr. Luke at the hotel, where they discussed writing music for other artists. Luke and Cyrus worked together on her hit “Party in the U.S.A.” According to sources, the teen superstar was actually blinded by the flashing lights of the paparazzi, not stumbling, as had been reported earlier on Tuesday. Last week, Cyrus made headlines defending her mom against paparazzi gathered outside of the California Chicken Cafe in West Hollywood, California. She confronted one of the photographers, telling him, “You just hit my mom with your camera, don’t you ever do that again. You just almost hurt my mom. Don’t you ever even think about it, for real.” Cyrus has often expressed her displeasure with the celebrity photogs. “I just [want] people to know, I think in pictures I always look upset. It’s because these cameras are following me. I just think it’s really kind of unfair,” she shared in a September video blog. “I know there are some people that maybe like that attention, but I’m not one of them. I really just want to be able to go on walks and enjoy where I live. … The paparazzi really frustrate me, and it makes me really upset that I’m being followed around by men that I don’t know, and for anyone else, it would be considered stalking. I don’t know who those guys are. I don’t know if they’re good guys or bad guys. I don’t necessarily care; I don’t want anyone following me.” In spite of the unwanted media attention, Cyrus is already having a good 2011. She recently showed off her funny side as a host on “Saturday Night Live” and she has two flicks, “LOL” and “So Undercover,” set for release this year. Related Artists Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus Defends Mom In Paparazzo Encounter

‘You just hit my mom with your camera. Don’t you ever do that again,’ the teen star tells tells aggressive photographer. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus (file) Photo: Getty Images Paparazzi are warned: Young Hollywood is on the defense. Just a week after Justin Bieber flipped off the paps (and later apologized), Miley Cyrus is also taking a stand against the prying camera lenses of the celeb obsessed. As a video posted online shows, the incident took place when a paparazzo ran up from behind Cyrus and her mom, Tish, as they were getting into their car after hitting up California Chicken Cafe in West Hollywood on Wednesday. Cyrus didn’t seem to like how close the camera guy got to her mother, so she pushed his lens out of the way, confronting him for getting too invasive. “You just hit my mom with your camera,” she told the man, pointing her finger at him. “Don’t you ever do that again. You just almost hurt my mom. Don’t you ever even think about it, for real.” As the two women got into the car, the paparazzo still tried to get his photo, as he said, “I would never disrespect your mom like that.” Cyrus has been vocal in the past about her frustrations with photographers following her around, noting that they are an intrusive side product of her life in the public eye. “I just [want] people to know, I think in pictures I always look upset. It’s because these cameras are following me. I just think it’s really kind of unfair,” the teen star shared in a September 2010 video blog. “I know there are some people that maybe like that attention, but I’m not one of them. I really just want to be able to go on walks and enjoy where I live … The paparazzi really frustrate me, and it makes me really upset that I’m being followed around by men that I don’t know, and for anyone else, it would be considered stalking. I don’t know who those guys are. I don’t know if they’re good guys or bad guys. I don’t necessarily care; I don’t want anyone following me.” Do you think Miley’s anger at the photographer was justifiable? Share your opinion in the comments. Miley Cyrus Was ‘Up For Anything’ On ‘SNL,’ Kristen Wiig Says

‘That’s always, to me, what makes a host fun to have around,’ she tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Miley Cyrus on “Saturday Night Live” Photo: NBC/Broadway Video If Miley Cyrus seemed loose hosting “Saturday Night Live” over the weekend, it’s because she was. “SNL” castmember Kristen Wiig tells MTV News the teen queen was not only a blast to have on the set, but also didn’t seem to suffer from any anxiety about doing live TV. “Yes, Miley [was fun to work with],” Wiig said while in New York on Monday (March 7) doing press for her alien-comedy flick, “Paul.” “She’s cool. It was really, really fun.” Guest host Miley poked fun at her own infamous bong video controversy, as well as at Justin Bieber — whom she played alongside Vanessa Bayer, who just so happens to play Cyrus on the “SNL” skit “The Miley Cyrus Show.” Cyrus even went for Lindsay Lohan and Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie. And it was Cyrus’ willingness to have a little fun at her own expense that made her the perfect host, according to Wiig. “Yeah, she was great,” the actress said. “She was up for anything. That’s always, to me, what makes a host fun to have around. They’ll make fun of themselves or how the media perceives them. She was up for anything, which was so great.” In addition to the performance by the Strokes , some of the night’s other highlights included Miley’s musical number “I’m Sorry I’m Not Perfect” and “Disney Channel Acting School,” where Miley and fellow Disney star Raven Symon? (played by Kenan Thompson) taught such subjects such as “Reacting to Stinky Feet” and “Spying in a Doorway,” required skills for any actor on a Disney series. What did you think of Miley’s hosting abilities on “SNL” Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus Rocks ‘Saturday Night Live’

Superstar teen lampoons Lindsay Lohan, Justin Bieber and herself on sketch comedy show. By Shawn Adler Miley Cyrus on “Saturday Night Live” Photo: NBC/Broadway Video For fans of Miley Cyrus last night’s “Saturday Night Live” had to seem, like, “pretty cool,” as the 18-year-old former Disney Channel Star made her first ever appearance as host on the long running sketch comedy show, alongside musical guest The Strokes. From the very beginning, Cyrus made it clear she was not above lampooning herself, self-depreciatingly telling viewers during her monologue that “Hannah Montana” was The Disney Channel’s version of “Black Swan,” before transitioning into “I’m Sorry I’m Not Perfect,” a song which managed to walk the fine line of referencing nearly every scandal of the young performer’s still burgeoning career without actually apologizing for any of them. “There’s a photo of me dressed like a dude, and Annie Leibovitz tried to get me nude . For those of you who think that’s pretty crude, I’m sorry I’m not perfect,” Cyrus belted. “[I] didn’t make a dirty tape, and pass it along. Didn’t text a dirty picture of [my] dong,” she continued, flanked by cast members Bobby Moynihan and Kristen Wiig. “Don’t’ both of these things seem worse than a bong ? I’m sorry I’m not perfect.” The show’s midnight centerpiece was, predictably, “The Miley Cyrus Show,” which continued SNL’s recent tradition of having the target of their hijinks appear alongside the actor lampooning them. In this case, Vanessa Bayer, whose spot-on impersonation of the giggly, hyper-loquacious Cyrus has become a show highlight, made room on her mock talk show for Cyrus herself, who in her best impression of the night played Justin Bieber. “Did you know I smoked salvia,” Bayer as Cyrus said to her guest. “Well there’s no reason that you wouldn’t,” Cyrus as Bieber replied, looking straight into the camera. “Because it’s totally legal, yo!” The spot offered up further opportunity for Cyrus to be in on the joke, dancing alongside a super sycophantic caricature of her father played by Jason Sudeikis, and laughing as Bayer introduced a 3D film called “Always Say Always” to compete with Bieber’s “Never Say Never.” But while she took turns playing Bieber, Lindsay Lohan and Fergie among others, the most daring sketch of the night might have been the one where Cyrus played herself, in a bite the hand that fed you skit called “Disney Channel Acting School.” Alongside Kenan Thompson as Raven Symone, Cyrus offered tips for kids looking to break into the big time with a show on the young adult channel including, “On the Disney Channel, every person has to be the loudest person in the room,” and, “In the Disney Channel world, any child is smarter than every adult.” Cyrus also showed off some classic moves like “Reacting to Stinky Feet” and “Spying in a Doorway.” What did you think of Cyrus’s performance on Saturday Night Live? Which skit was the funniest? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Related Artists Miley Cyrus Justin Bieber
