But with the New Year fast approaching, the 18-year-old star is looking toward the future. In a new video message , the singing sensation wished fans a Merry Christmas and shared some of her new year’s resolutions, including travel plans and possibly a new tour. “What’s up Miley World? It’s Miley,” the pop star says alongside younger sister Noah. “We’re sitting here coloring. I just wanted to tell you guys, ‘Have an awesome Christmas and a very happy New Year.’ I’m really looking forward to 2011. Got some new ideas. I want to go on some cool trips. I want to travel and I want to make this the year that I go out and do what I’m here to do, and that’s help people and make people happy.” Not only does Miley want to do some sightseeing, but she’s also intending to venture out on a new tour. “Hopefully I can tour or somehow come see my fans ’cause I would love to see you guys more in 2011,” she continued. “That would be rad. Just want to tell you guys I love you and hope you all are well and happy and healthy during holidays. Bye.” According to big sister Brandi, the Cyrus holiday gathering was filled with music and karaoke, as Miley and her younger sister sang a “Can’t Be Tamed” duet. “Miley and noah are currently singing ‘can’t be tamed’ on noah’s new karaoke machine,” the 23-year-old Brandi tweeted. “It’s pretty hilarious. my Mom is videoing. maybe if you’re lucky i’ll snag it and upload.” Miley’s father, Billy Ray — who split from the megastar’s mother, Tish, in October — also was present at the get-together to spend some time with his children at their 500-acre farm outside of Nashville. But her “So Undercover” co-star Kelly Osbourne has taken to Twitter to defend the 18-year-old singer/actress. “We are all having so much fun on set today. I looooove days like [this]!” Osbourne wrote on Tuesday. “Just read in the rags that apparently my mum thinks Miley is a bad influence on me. it could not be father from the truth! … Actually it’s the other way around. Miley has us all on a health kick. Gym/early nights. [They're] really scraping the barrel on that one!” Osbourne, who has faced her fair share of controversy over the years, went on to tweet, “This really makes me mad. Miley is one of the most hard working respectful women I have ever worked with. I am learning a lot from her! Osbourne added, “Miley and I have become really close. I’m sick of all the haters judging her. She made one mistake and trust me, she has learned her lesson!” The one-time reality star did admit that she and Cyrus have been indulging in one vice on the set. “This is how im a bad influence on Miley. Osbourne’s Twitter thread comes one day after news broke that the Miley’s parents are selling their marital home in Toluca Lake, Calif. Miley Cyrus’ Divorcing Parents Put House Up For Sale

The singer and his wife have put their multimillion-dollar Toluca Lake, California, house on the market, according to Gossip Cop . The couple is asking for more than $7 million for the home. The website also reports that Tish has been looking at homes in Encino since she announced her split from Billy Ray in October. The news comes at the same time it was announced that family friend Bret Michaels popped the question to longtime girlfriend Kristi Gibson. Michaels was rumored to be the cause of the split between Tish and Billy Ray as speculation swirled that he had an affair with Miley’s mom. Michaels , who recorded several songs with Miley, denied any wrongdoing. “The answer is no,” the singer said when he appeared on “Fox & Friends.” “I’ve been friends with her family forever. … It started out with me and Miley simply working on a song together. Her mom, Tish, likes ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn,’ the first concert Miley ever saw was Poison, and so they wanted to remake it for the new record. … When I was in the studio, Miley came in and sang on my song … and that was it.” Miley has been busy working on her latest film, “So Undercover,” and was recently spotted shopping in New Orleans during a break from filming. Miley Cyrus Isn’t Breaking The Law In Bong Video, Experts Say

By James Montgomery Miley Cyrus Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images By now, you’ve probably seen the video of Miley Cyrus allegedly smoking salvia from a bong , and you’re probably wondering whether she might face legal repercussions as a result of the clip. According to organizations on either side of the ongoing war over drug legalization, the answer is no. “[The video] might be embarrassing to her, but it does not put her in any legal risk,” Keith Stroup, legal counsel at the marijuana advocacy group NORML, told MTV News on Friday (December 10). “At the moment, [salvia] is not illegal in California, so even if she walked out on the street and smoked it in front of police, she couldn’t be arrested. And the video of her smoking isn’t enough to get her in trouble, because there’s no proof she wasn’t smoking tobacco.” “Salvia is a drug of concern,” said Michael Sanders, a spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Agency. “We are taking steps to look further into it, but for right now, it is not a schedule-one narcotic.” Under the Controlled Substance Act, U.S. drug policy assigns narcotics into five different “schedules” — marijuana is a schedule-one drug, as it has “a high potential for abuse … [and] no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States,” cocaine is a schedule two, etc. — which are determined by two federal agencies: the DEA and the Food and Drug Administration. The DEA does not currently list salvia, an herb that, when smoked, provides a powerful psychoactive punch, though several states have made it illegal. In California, where the Cyrus video was allegedly shot, it is illegal to provide salvia to minors; however, it is legal for them to possess it. Since the Cyrus video was not only allegedly shot in California but was also done so five days after her 18th birthday (according to TMZ), the pop star wasn’t breaking any laws. Though, as Stroup put it, all of that may change soon. “Until recently, [salvia] was perfectly legal, frankly because no one paid attention to it. It’s only after a little attention was paid to it in the media that states begin passing legislation about it,” he said. “Drug policy in this country is, by a large part, based on a social response or a political response, but the bottom line is, they don’t want people getting high.” Related Artists Miley Cyrus
