The “Hannah Montana” star is finally able to vote, and that means she has a whole future ahead of her in the world of music and movies. As 2010 wraps up, it seems that 2011 will be just as busy for the teen star, and while she’s taking a break from music (not that you’d be able to tell, thanks to her bevy of music videos and awards-show performances), she has a bustling film career for fans to follow in the coming 12 months. Cyrus recently wrapped her Ashley Greene co-starring flick “LOL: Laughing Out Loud,” which saw the star not only filming Stateside but also in Paris. The movie follows teens who rely on the Internet to socialize, leaving their parents ( Miley’s mom is played by Demi Moore ) confused by the modern relationships their children are in. “[Miley] is a true professional, and she truly has a wonderful family,” Moore said about her teen co-star. “It really shows.” The veteran actress plays the overbearing, confounded mom of Cyrus’ character, who gets freaked out after accidentally reading her daughter’s journal and finding out just how out of touch they have become. Miley is also getting ready for some action for her next role in the flick “So Undercover,” where she’ll play “a tough, street-smart private eye hired by the FBI to go undercover in a college sorority.” The flick means that the star will have to learn to fight for the role. “She’s basically this chick who grows up as a super tomboy, and she’s an FBI agent and gets thrown into a bunch of girls that she doesn’t understand because she’s been around her dad, who’s been in the FBI his whole life,” Miley explained. “And basically, by having to go undercover and be someone that she’s not, she kind of finds the person she is, because she realizes she doesn’t have to carry the weight on her shoulder of what her dad was, and she can be her own person.” While Miley has finished shooting “Hannah Montana,” her hit Disney series won’t go off the air until 2011. “I think that she’s growing with the show, and I think it’s such a great platform for her,” her pal Selena Gomez told MTV News about the star’s plans to walk away. “And she’s lived up to it as wonderfully as she could, and I think she continues to carry it, but she’s ready for other things.” Until then, Cyrus will hang out with her family for her big day, something that she was looking forward to the last time we spoke with her. “I’m not going to go crazy; [just] have a fun party and then maybe take a vacation with my family … because that would be really cool. I think we need time to all be together,” she said. “So that would be rad if we could all go to the beach or something. … [I have] no idea [where we're going]; somewhere near water. But the singer slowed things down with her mid-tempo balled “Forgiveness and Love” at the American Music Awards on Sunday night (November 21). In a demure, long-sleeve black dress, the teen sensation belted out the track on a candlelit stage. “The only thing that our hearts are made of/ Are the acts of forgiveness and love/ The only thing real, when push comes to shove/ Are the acts of forgiveness and love,” she sang. After the song ended, cameras caught the singer’s mom. (Michaels has denied the rumors.) Tish, smiling and clapping from her seat in the audience. According to online reports , Cyrus was to perform her cover of Poison’s classic “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” but backed out after rumors surfaced that the band’s frontman, Bret Michaels, had an affair with the singer’s mom. With the singer’s 18th birthday just around the corner, Cyrus recently told MTV News that she hopes to have her family together for the big occasion. “I’m not going to go crazy; [just] have a fun party and then maybe take a vacation with my family … because that would be really cool. I think we need time to all be together,” she said. “So that would be rad if we could all go to the beach or something. … [I have] no idea [where we're going]; somewhere near water. And pop stars like Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus certainly decided to take some chances when they hit the carpet at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday (November 21). Taylor Swift graced the carpet with a new hairstyle. Instead of her trademark curls, she sported full, blunt bangs and paired the ‘do with a chic, short rhinestone dress that was more rocker than Nashville. Nicki Minaj hit the carpet in a neon-pink-and-green dress complete with a birdcage-like structure over it. Ke$ha kept it kooky with a mohawk and a low-cut dress made of VHS tape. Her makeup was decidedly Ke$ha with glitter and black lipstick. Miley Cyrus went modern-bride chic in her Marchesa white strapless mini with a bustle and train. Rihanna looked red-hot with curly flame-colored hair and a partly see-through red Ellie Saab Haute Couture gown with sleeves, a low-cut back. The Ellie Saab Haute Couture gown gave off a nude illusion. Katy Perry said she went “girly” in her pale-pink Badgley Mischka strapless gown with sequins. She completed the look with old-Hollywood hair and teardrop earrings. Avril Lavigne wore pink-and-black streaks in her blond hair and kept it punky thanks to a Dolce & Gabbana graphic black-and-white little dress, lots of bangles and peep-toe ankle boots. Pink hit the carpet hiding her baby bump with a big black gown that was still funky, thanks to its low-cut back. The Situation wore a “Jersey Shore” black T-shirt, black blazer and rosary beads. Other guys who went for an all-black look included Usher and Diddy. Meanwhile, Ne-Yo decided to shake it up with a deep-purple suit. Several big pop groups hit the carpet, including the Black Eyed Peas. Fergie looked funky in a little black-and-blue dress with feather shoulder pads; apl.de.ap and Taboo looked sedate in black; and will.i.am looked like a cartoon character in his leather blazer, white jeans, medallion and Lego cap. Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Kid Rock were announced as additions to the roster Thursday (November 11). The trio join previously announced acts Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Ke$ha (who are all nominated for Artist of the Year), Bon Jovi, Pink, Usher, Ne-Yo, Diddy, New Kids on the Block and Christina Aguilera, who will perform a number from her upcoming movie “Burlesque.” Eminem and Lady Antebellum lead all AMA nominees with five apiece. Eminem is nominated for Favorite Male Artist in both the Pop or Rock (up against Bieber and Usher) and Hip-Hop categories, Favorite Album in both the Pop or Rock and Hip-Hop categories, and Artist of the Year (where he’ll face off against Lady Gaga, Perry, Bieber and Ke$ha). Bieber will compete for Favorite Male Artist – Pop or Rock, Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Album of the Year – Pop or Rock for My World 2.0. “As a small-town kid from Canada, I never imagined that I would be nominated for AMAs, let alone be performing on the show,” Bieber said, according to The Associated Press, which added that the 16-year-old professed to feel “extremely humbled and honored” by the invitation to play the show. “Justin, Katy and Ke$ha have been on the top of the charts all year long. We are happy to see each of them make their own AMA history,” AMA producer Larry Klein said in a statement announcing the performers. Winners will be determined by online voting at AMA.ABC.com . Now Michaels is speaking out about the rumors, denying there is any truth to them. “The answer is no,” the singer said when he appeared on “Fox & Friends.” “I’ve been friends with her family forever,” Michaels explained, according to People.com . “It started out with me and Miley simply working on a song together. Her mom, Tish, likes ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn,’ the first concert Miley ever saw was Poison, and so they wanted to remake it for the new record. … When I was in the studio, Miley came in and sang on my song … and that was it.” The pair, who have five children together, announced the split late last month. “As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family,” they said in a statement. “We are trying to work through some personal matters.
