Miley Cyrus’ Movie ‘LOL’ Picked Up By Distributor

Remake of 2008 French hit co-stars Demi Moore and Ashley Greene By Gil Kaufman Miley Cyrus Photo: Fotonoticias/ WireImage Miley Cyrus will cement her transition from kiddie TV star to teenage vixen in her upcoming movie “LOL,” which was just picked up for distribution by Lionsgate, according to Variety . The English-language remake of the 2008 French hit reportedly includes a number of scenes that might make Cyrus’ “Hannah Montana” fans blush; her character is said to lose her virginity, smoke pot and kiss two girlfriends on the lips. Co-star Demi Moore told MTV News in April that though Cyrus — whose parents announced their divorce this week — plays a wild child in the film, in real life she’s “incredibly grounded” and not at all like her “LOL” character. “[Miley] is a true professional, and she truly has a wonderful family,” Moore said. “It really shows.” The veteran actress plays the overbearing, confounded mom of Cyrus’ character, who gets freaked out after accidentally reading her daughter’s journal and finding out just how out of touch they have become. The movie, which also stars “Twilight” alum Ashley Greene, does not have a release date. Like the French original, it is written and directed by Lisa Azuelo; the cast also includes Thomas Jane (“Hung”), Gina Gershon (“Rescue Me”), Marlo Thomas (“That Girl”), Fisher Stevens (“Awake”), Adam Sevani (“Step Up 3D”), Jay Hernandez (“Takers”) and Austin Nichols (“One Tree Hill”). Cyrus and Greene were spotted shooting scenes for the film in Detroit earlier this summer and recently moved to Paris to continue production. In photos released last month , a smiling Cyrus, embraced at the waist by co-star Douglas Booth, is standing alongside a pensive-looking Greene and other castmembers Ashley Hinshaw and Lina Esco. In other shots, Booth and Cyrus are snuggling on a double-decker bus while Greene is on another bus. Booth and Cyrus also were filmed standing on a bridge chatting. Couple are calling it quits after 17 years of marriage. The couple confirmed to People on Wednesday (October 27) that they are breaking up after 17 years of marriage. “As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family,” they said in a statement. “We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.” The pair have five children and Billy Ray is father to Metro Station’s Trace . Both of Miley’s parents have been supportive of their superstar daughter’s career. Billy Ray, a country hitmaker known for the ubiquitous 1992 jam “Achy Breaky Heart,” starred as Miley’s onscreen father on the hit Disney show “Hannah Montana.” Miley has credited him with helping her maintain a level head despite her outsize fame. “It’s about being who you are. My dad has been in the spotlight for 20 years now and still every time he walks his dog they’re saying, ‘Billy Ray picks up dog poop,’ ” Miley told MTV News in June. “It’s like, ‘That’s a law in California, folks.’ You gotta do what you gotta do. That’s life for you. That’s life in the spotlight — it’s never gonna change.” Miley’s mom has been instrumental behind the scenes, recently serving as an executive producer on her film “The Last Song” and inadvertently helping to cast her onscreen love interest — who eventually became her offscreen beau — Liam Hemsworth . Miley has also paid tribute to her parents’ bond in the video for her 2009 smash “Party in the U.S.A.” Director Chris Applebaum explained to MTV News that the visual was inspired, not only by the monster throwback musical “Grease,” but also the Cyruses’ courtship. “Interesting enough, Miley’s parents Tish and Billy Ray, when they were first dating they went to a drive-in in Kentucky, I think, called the Corral Drive-In — so we named the drive-in after that as an homage to them,” Applebaum said. “In addition, Miley’s mom Tish used to drive ’79 black Pontiac Trans Am, ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ style, and obviously that’s the car that Miley arrives in.” Miley has also maintained that her parents’ support has helped her deal with the sting of negative press. “I’m a very inspirational person,” she said . “At the end of the day my parents are proud of me, and I have a feeling if your job is to bring other people down, you may not have the same response.” Related Artists Billy Ray Cyrus Miley Cyrus

By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus Photo: George Pimentel/ MTV News Back In June, MTV News spoke to onetime “Gossip Girl” star Kevin Zegers about working with Miley Cyrus on a project then known as “Big Big Bang.” Now it’s called “The Big Bang,” and it seems that it will finally see the light of day. While Just Jared Jr. reported that it was a music video for a track by Rock Mafia, E! Online claims the details are still under wraps. E! will premiere the project on November 1. In a 15-second sneak peek, Miley is seen driving her car through a parking garage, and her eyes meet with the attendant’s (played by the hunky Zegers). Soon, several quick-cut dramatic scenes flash, teasing some sort of horrific car accident involving the singer. What happens that leads up to it? What happens next? Well, that’s all a mystery until the full project premieres. In June, Zegers revealed that much of the video is based in his character’s fantasy life. “[My character is] a parking attendant, and he sees Miley’s character drive by and he sort of goes into a dream sequence, which is a majority of the video,” he revealed. “And then something dramatic happens at the end. It’s not all the making out, but there’s a car accident at the end. So there were a lot of stunts.” But before anything dramatic can take place, Zegers and Cyrus share some kisses. And he admitted that kissing Cyrus was kind of “weird,” mostly because they each had their real-life love interests on set that day. “She’s … just a beautiful young woman sort of roaming around,” he added. “It’s definitely not raunchy in any way.” Are you looking forward to the secretive project? By Mawuse Ziegbe Miley Cyrus in her “Who Owns My Heart” music video Photo: Hollywood Records Miley Cyrus’ new single, “Who Owns My Heart,” may question who the pop star’s latest boy toy is but the video certainly declares that the teen singer is embracing a sexier persona. However, some believe the 17-year-old singer’s racy image is damaging to her legions of young fans. In the clip, a scantily-clad Cyrus gets dolled up in her room and shows a lot of leg while grooving in the backseat of a car on her way to a rager at a mansion. The teen starlet then spends most of the video dancing in tiny shorts, a revealing halter, big hair and heels and partying until the wee hours. Tim Winter, who serves as president of the Parents Television Council, told TMZ that the “Hannah Montana” star’s sexed-up clip relays the wrong message to her teen following. “It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one,” Winter said. “It sends messages to her fanbase that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point. Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fanbase so rapidly.” This isn’t the first time the Disney star has faced controversy in her attempts to break away from her squeaky-clean, teen idol status. Her pole-dancing move at the at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards grabbed headlines and her latest LP, Can’t Be Tamed, features a much more vampy persona than her “Hannah Montana” alter ego. “I’m a completely different person [than when I released 2008's Breakout ]. I’m much more confident. You know, I’ve always been a confident person, but I was going through a lot then,” Cyrus told MTV News in June. “There’s so many people in your life telling you who you should and shouldn’t be,” Cyrus said. “And that’s what Tamed [is] about. Back in 2001 Britney Spears did as much in “Slave 4 U,” and this week, Miley Cyrus is doing the same in the video for her club-ready track “Who Owns My Heart.” Cyrus proclaimed her independence on “Can’t Be Tamed,” and now she’s declaring her vamped-up party girl status. Cyrus, who will formally hit adulthood when she turns 18 next month, opens the video lying on a bed in hot pants, a tank top and a mask. She awakens from her disco nap to primp for her night out, but much like the crew from the “Jersey Shore,” Cyrus has multiple costume changes before she actually dons her real party gear. As she applies lipstick and mascara, she’s ghetto fab chic in a fishnet hair wrap, rollers, heavy metal jewelry and more skimpy attire. As the beat pulses, Cyrus is in the backseat of a limo, singing about wondering whether she loves the guy she’s dancing with or if the music just makes her feel that way. She pulls up to a posh house party, full of revelers who don’t really seem to be concerning themselves with love and romance. At the party, when she’s not chilling out in the mansion’s study, or writhing on a big, wooden table, she’s on the dance floor grinding up against others. The video ends with Cyrus back in her fancy bedroom, once again waking up, perhaps ready for another night of dancing. The single is from her latest album, Can’t Be Tamed, which Cyrus said is all about girls empowering themselves. “It’s just about freeing yourself from anything you think is holding you back,” she explained to MTV News in June. “And I think that’s really important, especially for girls, because so many people are told, ‘No, you can’t do something,’ or, ‘You need to be this because Mom and Dad say that, teachers say this.’ ” Related Artists Miley Cyrus
