Title track debuts next week and will be available for download May 18. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Miley Cyrus ‘ next album, Can’t Be Tamed, is due June 22, Hollywood Records announced Monday (April 26). Cyrus worked with a number of producers on the album, including John Shanks (Jessica Simpson, Kelly Clarkson). The title track, the album’s first single, premieres Friday on MySpace and will hit radio May 3. “7 Things” collaborators Tim James and Antonina Armato produced and co-wrote the single with the pop star; Robert Hales (Demi Lovato, Jonas Brothers, Justin Timberlake) directed the clip for it. According to the label, “Can’t Be Tamed” is “a self-empowering song in which Miley asserts that she has to stay true to herself in relationships, and it is sure to become an anthem among her legions of fans around the world.” “Can’t Be Tamed” will be available for digital download May 18. The album will come in two versions, one of which will be a combo CD/DVD pack; the DVD will contain previously unreleased footage from Cyrus’ Wonder World Tour. Also, the concert will get its own prime-time network special, with more details to follow. Fans are especially excited about this album because it could be Miley’s last musical project for quite some time. “I have a record coming out in June, and that’s going to be the last thing I do in music for a while,” Miley said on “The View” earlier this year. “I just want to do films, ’cause I like being someone else. My music is kind of like my diary. I’ll always do that … I just feel like the music industry isn’t as positive as I’d like it to be.” Are you counting down the minutes until Miley releases her next album? Tell us in the comments! Selena Gomez and Band of Horses are stuck in Europe, while Whitney Houston had to travel by ferry. By Eric Ditzian Miley Cyrus Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage The volcanic ash cloud that has been hovering over Europe for days is mostly wreaking havoc on overseas travelers and businesses, but its effects are also being felt by music fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Miley Cyrus , Usher and Adam Lambert are just a few of the artists who won’t be headed to Europe because of travel restrictions imposed in the wake of the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallaj?kull volcano. Billboard.com reports that Cyrus has had to cancel plans to attend the London premiere of “The Last Song.” Both Usher and Adam Lambert have also been unable to head to Europe to launch promotional plans, according to the BBC . “Europe here we come!” Lambert tweeted last Friday, before those plans fell apart. While some flights have resumed in parts of Europe, London airports will remain closed at least through Tuesday (April 20). Pop princess Selena Gomez, whose single “Naturally” debuted at the #7 spot on the U.K. chart, is reportedly stranded in Europe while on tour, as are indie rockers Band of Horses. In the midst of her arena tour, which had already experienced delays due to illness, Whitney Houston has been forced to travel by ferry for her string of shows at Dublin’s O2 Arena. LCD Soundsystem were set to kick off dates in the U.K. and Ireland on Tuesday, but the Irish shows had to be cancelled. Meanwhile, U.K. acts including Gary Numan, the Cribs, Frightened Rabbit and Bad Lieutenant that were set to perform at the Coachella music festival over the weekend were unable to make the trip to California. Moore will play Miley’s mom in the upcoming remake of a French film. By Larry Carroll Miley Cyrus Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images BEVERLY HILLS — She began acting in her late teens, broke through with a series of youth-oriented romantic films and went on to launch a decades-long career as one of the most famous women in the world. Now, Demi Moore is ready to share the screen with Miley Cyrus — who began acting in her late teens and has recently broken through with a series of youth-oriented movies. The title of the flick might be “LOL,” but the thought of the pair onscreen together already has fans thinking “OMG!” “She plays my daughter,” Demi told us Friday (April 9) of the upcoming flick. “It’s a remake of a French film called ‘LOL,’ with the same French director [Lisa Azuelos]. She’s incredible.” We caught up with Moore while she was doing interviews for her April 16 film “The Joneses,” a cool, thought-provoking flick about a phony family dispatched to rich neighborhoods by corporate America to make them jealous of their possessions. Moore plays the “mother” of the family opposite David Duchovny — who couldn’t help but speak up when he heard the name Miley Cyrus. “Can I come visit you on set with my daughter?” asked Duchovny, who watches “Hannah Montana” with his 10-year-old, knowing he’d get immediate cred as a hip dad. “Yes, you can,” promised Moore, revealing that the film will shoot outside of Los Angeles. “But you will have to travel on location.” “She’s funny,” Duchovny added, revealing himself as an unlikely fan of the “Last Song” actress. “I watch it with my kids, and I’ll be like, ‘That girl is funny!’ ” “I’m really looking forward to it,” Moore said of the flick, which casts Miley as a teen who gets dumped by her boyfriend while her mother is simultaneously getting over her divorce, causing both to seek out new love while struggling to remain close to each other. Recently, Moore met with Miley, and she told us they hit it off and the film is full-speed ahead. “We’re just kind of getting going,” Moore said. “She’s great, and I think that she is incredibly grounded.” Moore also said she got to spend some time with Billy Ray Cyrus, who makes it a point to stay involved in his daughter’s career. “[Miley] is a true professional, and she truly has a wonderful family,” Moore said. “It really shows.” Are you excited to see Demi and Miley team up for “LOL”? Miley Cyrus: Her Most Memorable Moments

April 1, 2010 by

MTV News takes a look back at ‘The Last Song’ star’s highs and lows. By Jocelyn Vena Miley Cyrus Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Miley Cyrus has accomplished quite a lot in her 17 years. She has left her mark on pop culture, thanks to her highly successful Disney series “Hannah Montana,” which helped kick off Disney’s latest renaissance and opened doors for girls like Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. She has also released albums and had box-office smash hits with her Hannah character. With her desire to grow into more mature roles, like the one she plays in “The Last Song,” opening Friday, and her decision to take a break from music after releasing her new album this June, Cyrus is setting herself up to make the difficult leap from child star to adult superstar. The transition hasn’t been without a few controversies. In 2008, racy photos leaked online of the teen star in nothing but a bra and underwear. That scandal was followed by an uproar over her photo spread in Vanity Fair, in which the teen was photographed covered only in a sheet. She apologized for the Vanity Fair photo shoot , saying, “It still hurts when I think about it — but you know what? It doesn’t mean that you can’t move on.” She was under fire again when a photo appeared online of her pulling at the corners of her eyes in a gesture that appeared to mock Asians. Cyrus also found herself embroiled in a few feuds. She got into a YouTube battle with Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato that was later downplayed by all parties involved after Cyrus apologized. She also took aim at Radiohead , whom she threatened to “ruin” after they wouldn’t meet her at the Grammy Awards in 2009. However, it was Jamie Foxx who came under fire for comments he made about the teen star, saying she needed to make a sex tape and do drugs. He apologized , but her dad, Billy Ray, called Foxx’s comments “hurtful.” At the Teen Choice Awards in 2009, Cyrus performed her hit “Party in the U.S.A,” dancing around an ice-cream-cart pole that many said resembled a stripper pole. Just last month, her duet with Bret Michaels, “Nothin’ to Lose,” leaked online, and its suggestive lyrics left some uncomfortable. Perhaps Cyrus’ biggest moment came when she left Twitter behind for good in October. Although it was initially believed she left the site for beau Liam Hemsworth , she later said that she quit the site to have more privacy . “I think that everyone should leave Twitter,” she said. “I think Twitter should just be banned from this universe.” What’s next for Cyrus? With plans to release an album this summer and focus on her movie career , Cyrus and her outspoken nature will certainly continue to turn heads. In the meantime, fans can enjoy her final season donning the blond wig as Hannah Montana. What was Miley’s biggest moment so far? Are you excited to see “The Last Song”?
